Crime Watch: $64K in Jewelry Stolen From S. Park Avenue Home

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Attempted Purse Snatch:

On June 8 at 8:30 p.m., a Bellmore resident reported a male subject jumped out of a car and attempted to take her pocketbook off her shoulder while she was walking on Merrick Road, west of Oceanside Road. The subject, who was unable to take her pocketbook, fled westbound on foot. No injuries reported.

Larceny:

On June 11 at 3:50 p.m., a S. Park Avenue resident reported the theft of approximately $64,000 of jewelry from her apartment. The jewelry was stolen between May 7 and June 10.

Property Damage:

On June 6 at 8 p.m., a Uniondale resident reported her 2008 Nissan was damaged while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 8 during the afternoon.

On June 7 at 5:20 p.m., a Knollwood Road resident reported finding a crack in a sunroom window of his home, possibly caused by a landscaper.

Criminal Mischief:

On June 6 at 8:45 a.m., the owner of a sandwich shop on N. Village Avenue reported an unknown person inserted glue into the front door lock.

Investigation:

On June 7 at 9:40 a.m., the owner of a luggage store on Merrick Road reported two males entered his store on June 6 and engaged him in a conversation during which one subject distracted him while the second subject went behind the counter and opened a drawer. No reported loss.

On June 7 at 5 p.m., a Hampshire Road resident reported four unauthorized charges of $49.99 were made against her checking account in Germany.
