Local arrests, case reports and larcenies.

Arrests:

On July 19 at 11:20 p.m., Naeem A. Bryan, 30, of Mount Vernon, was arrested for operation of a motor vehicle while using a handheld mobile device and speeding on Merrick Road. He was also found to have an open warrant from New York City for possession of marijuana.

On July 21 at 6:35 p.m, Devon Carty, 19, of Brooklyn, was arrested for an open NYC bench warrant for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after RVCPD Anti-Crime officers observed him acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Taco Bell Restaurant at 570 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre.

On July 23 at 9:09 p.m., Lashaun L. D. Shepard,  26, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Merrick Road.

On July 24 at 2:15 p.m., Celestino Tiburcio, 60, of Rockville Centre, was arrested and charged with menacing, possession of a weapon and aggravated unlicensed operation after he allegedly threatened a family with a machete on Sunrise Hwy. in the village during a road rage incident.

On July 25 at 12:36 a.m., Allison M. Cienski, 26, of, N. Bellmore, was arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct after interfering with police officers who were conducting an investigation at 213 Sunrise Highway.

On  July 26 at about 2:07 a.m., Michael J. Holand, 27, of Lido Beach, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation after he was observed driving a 1993 Chevrolet on Sunrise Hwy in RVC. Defendant was also charged with possession of marijuana and operating with a loud exhaust system.

Assault–

On Thursday, July 23 at 12:19 a.m., a North Valley Stream resident reported having an altercation with an acquaintance at 200 Merrick Rd. in  Rockville Centre, resulting in pain to his right eye requiring medical attention. NCPD First Squad notified via DPB.

Robbery -  

On July 24 at 9 p.m., a pedestrian resident reported he was confronted at 8 p.m. in the rear of Kasey's, MPF # 1, by three male subjects who demanded $20 from him. No weapons displayed. 

Forgery-

On Tuesday, July 20 at 6:40 p.m., an employee at Dunkin Donuts at 63 North Village Ave., reported to police that an unknown male subject did attempt to purchase merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill. 

Larceny-

On July 19 at 2:23 p.m., the store manager at Verizon Wireless at 265 Sunrise Hwy., reported the theft of a cell phone from the customer display area.

On July 21 at 6:30 p.m., a shopper reported her pocketbook was stolen while she was at the Home Goods Store on 152 North Village Ave., Rockville Centre.  

On July 22 at 10:09 a.m., the owner of Petrone Stone, Inc., 45 South Centre Ave., reported that someone stole scaffolding equipment valued at $17,150 from the rear yard of his business between  July 10 and July 20.

On July 23 at 4:00 p.m., a guest at the Hampton Inn at 125 Merrick Rd. reported the theft of jewelry valued at $1,000. Theft occurred between 9:30 a.m. on Jukly 21 and 9:30 a.m. on July 22. 

 

On July 23 at 5:35 p.m., an employee at Jenny's Stationery at 197 Brower Ave., reported the theft of newspapers from in front of the store during the early morning hours.

On July 24 at 2 a.m., an Oceanside resident reported the theft of her pocketbook from on top of the bar at McFadden's at 210 Merrick Rd. 

Criminal Mischief-

On July 20 at 11:40 p.m., a Lindenhurst resident reported observing an acquaintance damage two tires on her motor vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of Mercy Medical Center, 1000 North Village Ave.

Investigation/Village Code Violation-

On July 23 at about 3:14 p.m., police, fire and building department personnel responded to 107 N. Forest Ave. to assist the RVC Electric Department. Investigation at the scene revealed unsafe/unauthorized electrical work. Power to building was shut off by Electric Department. Summonses were issued to the building owner by RVC Code Enforcement Officer.
