Cops: RVC Woman Stabs Victim, Turns Knife on Self

A Rockville Centre woman was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly stabbing another woman and then turning the knife on herself on Hempstead Avenue.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 1:36 p.m., the Rockville Centre Police Department received a call for a woman blocking traffic in front of 115 Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre.

Upon arrival, police said they saw 35-year-old Farah Lamarre standing in the middle of the roadway holding what appeared to be a kitchen knife.

As a sergeant from the RVCPD approached Lamarre, she ran out of the roadway onto the sidewalk and stabbed a 26-year-old woman in the shoulder, upper left arm and right hand, police said.

After the assault, police said Lamarre dropped to the ground and proceeded to stab herself in the throat. Lamarre then quickly got up and ran into her home, locking her door, which prevented the sergeant from entering.

Moments later, police said Lamarre exited the home with additional lacerations to both wrists, but ran inside for a second time.

Police said as Lamarre exited for a third time, they were able to take her into custody. She was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of her non life-threatening injuries.

The victim was also transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Lamarre is being charged with assault in the second degree, possession of a dangerous weapon in the fourth degree and resisting arrest.

She will be arraigned as soon as practical.
