Cops: Man Broke into Nearby House, Tried to Choke Woman

Cops are searching for a subject they say broke into a nearby home and tried to choke a woman, according to Nassau County Crime Stoppers.

According to police, a 30-year-old woman was was in her home when she heard a noise in a spare bedroom. She went into the room and saw a man climbing through the window, cops said. The man entered the room, grabbed the woman's hair, and tried to choke her, police said. The two struggled and the woman broke free as she screamed for help and the man fled, detectives said.

The burglary happened at 5:20 p.m. Monday on Bucknell Road in Valley Stream, police reported.

The subject is described as a hispanic male, 18-20 years old, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, thin build, medium-dark complexion, dark eyes, dark short hair, and was wearing a red baseball cap, white sweatshirt, and blue jeans.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
