Two people, one a teenager, face charges in connection to a robbery last month on Rockville Centre, Nassau County Police announced.

Thomas Scanlan, 17, of East Rockaway, and Christopher Pilato, 25, of Oceanside, were each charged with two counts of robbery after police said they robbed a 22-year-old they reportedly knew.

On Dec. 7, police said the 22-year-old victim met an acquaintance at 2:50 p.m. on Shellbank Place and had a brief conversation before two other men pull up in a car. The victim ran away but was caught behind a Shellbank Place home, where officials said he was punched and robbed of an iPhone and cash. Read the original story here.

Scanlan was arraigned Dec. 9 and was scheduled to return to court later this month. Pilato will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

considering the ages of these individuals I would imagine that this has to do with drugs. Isn't is so sad that our children are falling victim to addiction and this is the result. Now I am reading that this kid has died. Why does a 17 year old die if not for drugs. Its a very sad state of affairs in our communities. Drugs make our children do all sorts of things that they probably wouldn't do if they weren't high. This is very sad and my condolences go out to the family of these young people that seem to be lost in the world.
