Car Flips Over on Peninsula Boulevard

Car lands in woods after flipping on Peninsula Boulevard.

The Rockville Centre Fire Department, along with village and county police, responded to an overturned vehicle on Penninsula Boulevard on Thursday morning.

The SUV apparently lost control in the southbound lanes and flipped over into a wooded portion of Hempstead Lake State Park. The incident occurred just south of the Southern State Parkway.

The condition of the driver is currently unknown.

People drive like they are Mario Andretti on Penninsula. I use the turn around from the North bound side to the South bound side to get to Eagle Ave every morning around 6:10am and its like I have to hold on for dear life to make it across. People leave the light up near the parkway and fly all the to Lakeview. It is insane! How about some of the cops patrol that road a couple times a month to put people on notice?

I agree. I use the same turn around myself and I as well have to hold on for dear life hoping to make it across the two lanes without getting drilled. Drivers are doing a minimum of 60+ . It's a really unsafe roadway and becomes increasingly unsafe when there's black ice. Slow down please. Most accidents almost always have an innocent party that is injured due to someone else being negligent behind their vehicle, I know that all too well. Let's have some police monitoring on this road.
