BREAKING: RVC Schools Lift Lockdown After Police Stop Search for Home Invader

Schools were under lockdown for two hours as police searched for the suspect.

Rockville Centre schools were placed under lockdown at noon after school officials received word that police were searching for a home invader on the lam, officials said.

According to Robert Bartells, assistant superintendent of business in the district, security staff heard on a police scanner about the police's search for a home invader, and decided it was best to lockdown the schools as a precautionary measure at around noon.

The lockdown was lifted at 2 p.m., he said, after security informed them that police had stopped the search.
