A Valley Stream man was arrested in Rockville Centre for identity theft Saturday afternoon after a month-long police investigation that stemmed from two December incidents at Cabo on N Park Avenue.
According to Rockville Centre Police, a complainant from Long Beach reported that between Dec. 18 and Dec. 19, an unknown person made an unauthorized transaction of $554.24 against his American Express card and of $327.45 against his Capitol One card at Cabo.
A subsequent investigation led Nassau County detectives to Vinson Noel, 28, of Valley Stream.
The investigation gave reason to conduct a surveillance of Noel, who, on Saturday, again attempted to purchase food and beverages at Cabo with two different fraudulent credit cards, both of which were denied, police said.
Saturday's incident involving Noel was observed by investigating detective who followed him out of the restaurant and placed him under arrest, police said.
Noel is charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, three counts of identity theft in the second degree, identity theft in the third degree and two counts of petit larceny. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
Nassau detectives ask anyone who believes they were a victim of Noel to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
