No. 81 – Try a Panini at Press 195

This modern restaurant has every type of panini you can imagine and more.

Our next stop on the terminal of 100 things to do in Rockville Centre caters to the taste buds. At Press 195, the village's ultimate sandwhich destination, the menu boasts nearly 40 different types of paninis along with salads, pom frites with some dipping sauces to die for, and an extensive craft beer selection.

Located at 22 North Park Ave., the self-titled sandwhich and wine bar looks humble from the outside, yet the inside extends far into the back dining area and onto the back deck patio. Some florid ceramic tile decour gives the wide opening dining room a grandeur feel, but the TVs broadcast local sports games.

Each panini on the menu assigned a number, and each one looks more appetizing than the next. After much deliberation I settled on the No. 12, a melt of fontina and provolone cheese, artichokes, sundried tomoatoes, black bean hummus and a garlic spread with chicken. It was as delicious as it sounds. One half of the panini, plus a split order of the pom frites with chipotle mayo dipping sauce, was plenty for two.

For the craft beer enthusiast, Press 195 is just as much of a mibrobrew haven as it is a culinary destination. The draft selection serves all the favorite local brews like Great South Bay, Blue Point, and Barrier Brewing; as well as unique imports from Germany, Belgium and France.

The eatery is open for lunch and dinner every day until 10 p.m., so there's no danger of a meal ending dance-club infused interruption. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is relaxed and condusive to appetite curbing.

I have two comments: If you want to contact the Village, contact Mayor Francis X. Murray. I don'tRead More know what block you live on. But on my block, the leaf blowers are DAILY and at ANY time of day. It is horrible noise pollution.
