Community Post: Hampton Inn Expansion

I did not see the ZBA hearing last night. On the agenda was a request by the Hampton Inn for a parking variance for a proposed 4 story building addition. This is the same Hampton Inn that the previous Murray Administration granted a building permit the day before they declared a building moratorium. This single act by the village threw us into a decade of chaos of suits and counter suits by Home Depot, Chase Partners, Darby Drugs and Avalon Bay. This action cost the village approximately 7 million dollars in actual settlements, cost of litigation and increased insurance premiums.  You might ask why the Murray administration put the whole 25,000 residents through this debacle to benefit one person. Regardless of these past actions sight unseen in my opinion this building will be approved. Regardless of the fact this site and all sites south of the Avalon Bay apartments continue to lie in the path of a contaminated life threatening plume. While you’re Mayor and the Board of trustees do nothing. I’m taking a chance here like all variance request that come before the ZBA on Parking. I bet they approved the Hampton Inn request and will allow them to build without the required 137 spots, giving the customer 40 free spots. They did the same thing for their Bonehead customer allowing them to open without one new parking spot where they needed 54 and now throw 187 bonehead customers into the officially filled to capacity 240 parking field. This is another satisfied customer of the Murray administration. I support restaurant building in the village with the required parking, I supported Avalon Bay apartments for a 109 apartments, not 349.  I support Avalon Bay ll apartments for the allowable 36 apartments but not the proposed 349 apartments. Get ready sight unseen Mayor Murray will allow 349 units just like the previous Murray administration to another satisfied customer leaving the other 25,000 residents holding the bag and the contamination.
