Guardian Angels to Patrol Roxen Road??

Gregory Milone, Jr. August 9, 2013 at 01:54 pm

I am outraged that any homeowner in the Village of Rockville Centre, could be deprived of the sanctity and safety of his own neighborhood; and receive a savage beating, on the street where he lives, while his wife helplessly and hysterically looks on.

Nassau County D.A. Kathleen Rice has done an appalling disservice to the cause of justice, and to personal safety in our Village. Reducing and/or  removing the most serious charges against the men who were responsible, does not carry the strong message of intimidation that indicates a zero tolerance for any such act; if committed by anyone and everyone, without exception, within the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre.

Doctors identified multiple broken ribs and bruises, lacerations, and contusions among the victim's injuries. I fail to see the rationale behind moderating the charges. The fact that the perpetrators are also village residents, makes this crime even more insidious, and the appearance to me is that they have either received leniency because of it, or some other intervening influence. Regardless of her motive, Ms. Rice has narrowed the court's sentencing discretion, increasing the possibility of "Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal," public service, and minimal or no jail time.

Let us remember all their names and their faces, and the vicious pummeling they inflicted on a neighbor in our community. Fortunately, even Nassau County District Attorney, Kathleen Rice, is powerless to drop or reduce any of the charges that may be pending, before the "Court That's in Our Mind."
