Patch remembers Rockville Centre residents and pillars who died this past year.

Throughout the year news broke of several shocking and saddening deaths. We followed their stories, reported on their contributions and mourned their loss.

Mary Lou Murray (formerly Bernhardi), the mother of Rockville Centre Mayor Francis Murray,died on Dec. 2. She was 84. Read more here.

John H. Queen, a former police officer in Rockville Centre, died on Nov. 25 at a rehabilitation center in Florida. He was 80. Read more here.

Jean Clarissa Stireman Roll, a former resident of Rockville Centre and a ping pong champion, died on Nov. 15 at a hospice in Asheville, N.C. She was 89. Read more here.

Benedict J. Egan, Jr, of Rockville Centre, died on Nov. 18. He was 95. Read more here.

Dr. Ken Carnevale, a partner at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island in Rockville Centre, passed away suddenly on Nov. 11. He was 44. Read more here.

Bridget "Rita" Bowden, (McCann) of Rockville Centre, died on Nov. 1. She was 85. Read more here.

William P. Campbell, a former resident of Rockville Centre living in Seaford, died on Oct. 26. He was 88. Read more here.

The Most Reverend James J. D.D. Daly, a retired auxiliary bishop of Rockville Centre, died on Oct. 14. Read more here.

James Melvin Williamson, of Rockville Centre, died on Oct. 11. He was 76. Read more here.

The Molloy College community mourned the loss of Fr. Thomas Catania. Fr. Catania joined the Molloy faculty in 1991 as as Professor in the Theology and Religious Studies and English Departments. Read more here.

Platinum gospel recording artistDonnie McClurkin of Rockville Centre and his Grammy-nominated siblings will say goodbye to their beloved mother Frances McClurkin during a soul-stirring home-going service and celebration of her life on Friday, Jan. 25, at Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York in Jamaica.
