Marine Funeral to Be Held at St. Agnes

Saturday's funeral for Marine Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley Jr. will close Quealy Place.

Saturday's funeral for Marine Lance Cpl. Greg Buckley Jr., the Oceanside native who was killed in Afghanistan last week, is expected to create a lot of traffic in the Rockville Centre area.

The funeral is being held at St. Agnes Cathedral at 2 p.m.

Quealy Place, in front of the cathedral, will be closed from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Rockville Centre police said, and heavy traffic is expected.

AP reported that the 21-year-old Buckley, along with two other U.S. Marines, was shot and killed by an Afghan police officer after the shooter had shared a meal with them before dawn last Friday

"He was in the gymnasium with all his friends, about seven of them, and an Afghani, someone that he was training, came from in the shadow, opened the door and just took an AK-47 and started shooting at random," Buckley's brother Shane told NBC New York. "He hit my brother, his friend Richard, and his other friend, and they all passed away. Four of them got away."
