Scannell Supports Suozzi on Sept. 10

As a Legislator I have seen firsthand how Nassau County has taken a wrong turn under County Executive Ed Mangano.

Under Mangano, our debt has risen to $3.5 billion, the highest in the county’s history.  He has already borrowed over $2 billion and if not for my Democratic colleagues and I preaching fiscal responsibility he would have borrowed an additional $1 billion.  Due to Mangano’s mismanagement of our county finances our bond ratings have been downgraded three times and a state control board, NIFA, has taken over.

When Tom Suozzi was Nassau County Executive, we cut the debt, reduced the borrowing and had 13 straight bond upgrades, the most of any municipality in the country during that time.  Tom put us on solid fiscal footing and has a vision for the long-term future of Nassau.

Nassau County needs a proven leader at the helm once again, someone who will repair and restore our finances without passing insurmountable debt down to the next generation.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, I am supporting Tom Suozzi in the Democratic primary because he is the best candidate to reduce the debt and help restore our quality of life.
