Mercy Tree Christmas Lighting Set for Dec. 11

Annual tree lighting and fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m.

The Council of Leagues of Mercy Medical Center has invited the Rockville Centre community to join in the annual Christmas "Tree of Lights" celebration on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m

The blessing and lighting of the Christmas tree will take place in front of the hospital, followed by refreshments served in the Main Lobby.

According to the medical center, the ceremony will provide "the opportunity to recall the need to grow stronger together in our search for peace, with the Tree of Lights representing a beacon of hope and unity in our fragmented world."

Mercy’s Christmas tree lighting is an annual fundraiser that this year will support the Sister Mary Grace Education Fund, which provides scholarships for students in financial need who are studying for careers in health care.

Lights can be purchased for the Christmas tree in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a special event or in honor of a special person, with remembrances recorded in a "Tree of Lights" book that will be displayed in the hospital’s main lobby during the Christmas season.
