Oct. 9: Village Board Meeting, Camel Crickets

Find out what's going on in and around the village today.

  • In case you missed it, the first part of our weekly "Crime Watch" posted yesterday morning. Come back this morning at 8 a.m. for part two, which features a report from police about a man who may have had a gun on Molloy's campus.
  • The Village of Rockville Centre Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting tonight at village hall. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and Patch will be there!
  • Last week we asked residents on the Rockville Centre Patch Facebook page about good ways to get rid of camel crickets. Fifty responses later and we had quite a good list. Come back today at 2 p.m. to see some of the responses and feel free to contribute a few of your own.
  • In case you mised it, Patch is collecting questions for Obama and Romney during the next presidential debate. Submit your questions and it could be asked during the televised Oct. 16 Town Hall Presidential Debate.
  • There will be a free seminar Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. on wills and living trusts held at The Best Western located at 173 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre. Click here for all of the information.

Place glue traps, with cornmeal in the center, along problem spots and mist the area with water. Works great. Give it a week and no "camels" to speak off.

My exterminator got rid of them quickly and easily and now we are in maintenance.
