Minor Changes for Major Results

Making minor changes in your life can lead to major changes. Here are some simple suggestions everyone can use.

Are you interested in losing a couple pounds? That’s not a trick question. I want to give you 5 simple changes, that if you incorporate into your life, you just may shed a couple pounds.

This isn’t another “fad diet” or gimmick in which “you’ll drop 2 pant sizes in 2 days." I’m just offering some minor changes that can lead to major results!

Suggestion #1 —  Eat breakfast. It always surprises me to hear how many people skip breakfast everyday. Just the word breakfast is BREAK FAST. It’s important to eat something after waking up to provide your brain and body with “some fuel”, as well as to get your metabolism moving!

Suggestion #2- Get regular activity every day. This can be as simple as taking a 10-20 minute walk at lunchtime or at the end of the day. You can use the stairs instead of an elevator, and could maybe skip the bus or subway and walk to work when the weathers nice out.

Suggestion #3- Have snacks. You should never have your stomach “growling” when you sit down to lunch. Avoid this by having a snack 2-3 hours after your last meal. Examples of snacks would be nuts, baby carrots, celery, broccoli, rice cakes, an apple, Greek yogurt, 100 calorie packs, and so on. A snack should “take the edge off” when you’re just starting to get hungry and get you to your next meal.

Suggestion #4- Avoid eating (or snacking) in front of the T.V or when talking on the phone. If you get caught up in a show, or a deep and emotional conversation, you could consume hundreds if not thousands of calories accidentally!

Suggestion #5- Don’t be “stuffed” at the end of each meal. As kids we were taught to eat everything on our plate. But, now that we’re grown up, we can save the rest for later. Also, it takes about 15-20 minutes for you stomach to let your brain know that it’s full. So, don’t put so much food on your plate, eat slower, and avoid eating to the point in which you feel as if you may pop!

I hope you find these suggestions helpful and begin incorporating them into your life. If you have any questions about information covered, or a suggestion of an upcoming blog topic, please email me at Chris@ChrisFitNY.com.
