South Nassau Named to 'Best Places to Work in Healthcare'

For the third consecutive year, South Nassau Communities Hospital has been named to the Becker's Hospital Review 2013 list of "100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare" in the United States.

South Nassau was selected for its “robust benefits, wellness initiatives, professional development opportunities, atmosphere of employee unity and satisfaction, and employee recognition programs and events,” according to a release.

Events and programs to honor employees include annual Nurses Week and Hospital Week celebrations; luncheons and ceremonies to honor the selfless efforts of volunteers and auxilians; an Annual Service Awards Dinner; and numerous other events.

"To fulfill our mission of providing the communities and patients we serve with high-quality healthcare services it is imperative that our employees are engaged, appreciated, and encouraged to grow and develop their skills,” said Richard J. Murphy, South Nassau's president and CEO. “It is for that reason that we are persistent in meeting our employees’ needs for a supportive, encouraging, rewarding and collaborative workplace.”

Becker's Hospital Review list of the "100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare" was developed through nominations, extensive research, and a rigorous review with peer organizations and is composed of hospitals, health systems, surgery centers and large physician practices.  Becker's Hospital Review is a bimonthly magazine published by ASC Communications located in Chicago, Ill.
