RVC Resident Launches 'Heat & Eat' Food Delivery Service

Fork & Cleaver allows residents to order fresh, Italian meals sent straight to their door.

After moving from Manhattan to Rockville Centre, the one thing Kal Gullapalli missed most was the plethora of food delivery options Manhattanites get to enjoy.

Despite all the great restaurants located right within Rockville Centre, the hassle of finding parking and the lack of choices when it comes to delivery Gullapalli said often resulted in just eating the same, boring meals over and over again. It was with this frustration in mind that he launched his new business, Fork & Cleaver, a "heat and eat" meal delivery service that provides residents of Rockville Centre the opportunity to order fresh, Italian meals sent straight to their door.

The menu changes every week, and customers have the option to select one entrée and one side for each meal they order for $10.99 per person. The meals are then delivered between 6 to 8 p.m., and customers have the option to heat and eat these meals whenever they want.

As the owner of Malverne Prime Meats, a local butcher shop that has been around for more than 60 years, Gullapalli was really inspired to launch Fork & Cleaver’s "heat and eat" meals after customers started requesting more cooked meals out of his shop.

“With everyone’s hectic schedule these days, it’s tough to make it out to the grocery store much less take the time to cook,” Gullapalli said. “Everything we make in the shop is made from scratch, and so we’re giving our customers the chance to have that home cooked dinner without the hassle of a messy kitchen and dirty dishes.”

Fork & Cleaver hosted a tasting event to launch their new business on Feb. 22 where customers had a chance to meet chef Ed Logan and sample some of Fork & Cleaver’s most popular dishes including spaghetti and meatballs, chicken francaise, eggplant parmesan and penne a la vodka.

“We heard quite a few stories of people telling us the junk they eat for dinner, like popcorn and ramen noodles, because they don’t have the time to cook. They were very excited to hear they could now regularly enjoy a home cooked meal that’s also delivered straight to their door.”
