Business Q&A: Kasey's Kitchen & Cocktails

The contemporary North Park Avenue restaurant serves up good food and good times.

As Kasey’s Kitchen & Cocktails enters its eleventh year in business, owners Tom McNicholas Jr. and Anthony Geraci are anxiously awaiting the opening of the restaurant’s rooftop bar this July. Amid preparations for the summer season, McNicholas dishes on the restaurant’s food, drinks and nightlife scene.

How did you get your start in the restaurant industry?

I started working in restaurants when I was 14. I fell in love with this business right from the beginning because I'm a social person and I love the interaction with the people you meet in the service industry. My great grandfather, Carmine Tesauro, was in the restaurant business in Brooklyn for years, so I believe it's in my blood.

What are some crowd favorites on the Kasey’s menu?

Kasey's has always been known for its nightlife and catering, but people don't realize the high quality of food you can get at reasonable prices. I think our most popular items are the ribs, burgers, our famous Kasey's wings and tid-bits, and the chef’s daily specials. As for drinks, the mojitos, summer breeze and specialty martinis are most popular. The cocktail menu, like the food menu, changes seasonally.

Can guests hold private events at the restaurant?

Kasey's can host events for 25 to 275 guests. We have four separate rooms, so we can accommodate everything from a small business meeting to a large celebration. We host many youth team functions and charity events. We also do off-premises catering of backyard barbeques and corporate barbeques. Basically, you tell us what you would like and we'll execute your idea in the most professional and mouth-watering way possible.

What kind of entertainment do you have for the late-night crowd?

From Wednesday through Saturday, we have a DJ and a great dance floor as well as a private lounge if you just want to relax. The bar area is a great place to watch your favorite teams on one of our 25 televisions. For Happy Hour on Fridays we offer $3 drinks and a free buffet from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with live music from some very talented musicians. During the summer Kasey's offers karaoke on Tuesday nights.

Do you offer any mid-week specials to entice customers?

We have a great takeout menu for the people that are constantly running around. We prepare a great meal so all they need to do is pick it up and enjoy it without all of the cooking and cleaning. We also have weekday specials in-house. On Two-for-Tuesdays, if you purchase one entree, appetizer, and desert at regular price you receive a second of the same or lesser value for free. On Wednesdays we have a German Night with some great gourmet specialties, which includes a free German beer and a desert for $14.95. Thursdays are our Signature Steak Nights where you can receive the cut-of-the-week prepared three different ways.

What do you want people to get out of their experience at Kasey's?

People are going out to relax and want to enjoy good food in a great environment and be stress-free. We want people to know they can get a great meal prepared by a group of extremely talented chefs. Our goal is always to build friendships with our regular customers and treat them like family so that they spread the word about the great experience they had.
