Business Q&A: Rhino Chiropractic

Dr. John Gehnrich is challenging traditional medical practices.

Dr. John Gehnrich is on a mission. The owner and chief physician at Rhino Chiropractic on South Park Avenue believes that most of what ails the common patient can be fixed by proper chiropractic adjustments and holistic healing. Here, Gehnrich explains what separates his practice from the rest.

What kind of services do you offer?

During this last year, I’ve expanded into a holistic wellness center. We’ve expanded to double the size and quadruple the services. Those services have to do with cleansing, detoxing, and getting people well from the inside out.

The services that I expanded into started with the idea that we live and die by what we have in our colon. If we don’t have two or three bowel movements a day, the toxicity builds up and holds toxins in the body....(To aid this) we do colon hydrotherapy. In our office, this isn’t done by a professional, it’s done by (the patient). We guide you through cleansing yourself by getting purified warm water into your intestines. It’s very gentle and very effective.

We use the ionic foot bath. This pulls the toxins out through osmosis. We also discovered that it’s so important to eliminate toxins through the largest organ in your body - your skin. Using a sauna, we heat the body up from the inside out - kind of like a microwave does.

Another service we have is called hydro-massage. You lay on a water bed that circulates strong jets into your back to relax your muscles and mobilize toxins.

How often should the average person see a chiropractor?

Everybody has different life experiences, different birth processes, different traumas in their life - physically, chemically and emotionally. Those people are obviously checked more intensely. Initially, we see people more frequently - two to three times a week. We get them to a point where the body stabilizes. What’s different about my office is (that) I don’t just treat them, or take care of them, or adjust them. We do that to correct the underlying cause of the problem, then we teach them better ways of living and detoxifying the body. Typically people will begin to hold their adjustment in place.

Once a week is what I do for myself and my family. We have well-care plans after people go through the initial intensive days of care that they can maintain for very affordable fees.

What age do you suggest children start going to a chiropractor?

As soon as possible. When a child is born, they have a spine. Their spine houses their brain and their spinal chord. It controls every cell, tissue, and organ in their body. (When a child is born) doctors typically stretch a babies neck over two times its natural length. This puts so much strain on the babies’ neck that they develop health issues as a result of it.

Our philosophy is ‘don’t wait for a symptom.' Because often it takes a lot more work, energy, time and money to correct that.
