Business Q&A: Art Flower and Gift Shoppe
Local shop has been in same location for more than 75 years.
With an assortment of both flowers and chocolates, on North Village Avenue is the perfect place to shop for Valentine's Day. In business since the mid 1930s, the store is a licensed Godiva Chocolatier and offers a variety of floral arrangements and gift baskets. Owner Keith Linsalata has been in the flower business for 37 years, purchasing the shop in 1991. Here, Linsalata describes what it’s like to own a flower shop in Rockville Centre.
What makes the Natural Wonders and Garden of Grace bouquets so popular?
One of the main reasons why some (bouquets) are more popular than others is the type of flower and the tranquility that some flowers and arrangements bring to people. Flowers are a very comforting type of item, hence the reason (why) they are given a lot during bereavements. Those two particular ones tend to (bring) a lot of comfort to people.

What is your busiest time of year?
The biggest holiday that we have is Mother's Day, which lasts for about seven to ten days. The actual busiest day of the year is Valentine's Day.

What kind of chocolate items do you sell?
We sell the full line of Godiva chocolate. We were lucky enough to become a Godiva Chocolatier about 13 years ago. We carry the full inventory that you can buy online or in the (Godiva) shops themselves.
What can customers find on your website?
Pretty much anything that you can find in our store, you can find on our website. We have a secure site, so you can order without any problems 24 hours a day. It’s a really user-friendly site.
What do you like about operating in Rockville Centre?
Rockville Centre is a fantastic community. The residents are very supportive. If you do the right thing for the residents of Rockville Centre and you (sell) good quality products at a fair price with great customer service, you will get a dedicated customer base like nowhere else I’ve even seen before in Nassau County. I owned a store in Bellmore for a number of years and, I have to say, there’s no competition when it comes to customer loyalty in Rockville Centre.
