A high heat advisory is in effect from June 29 through July 2.
To avoid heatstroke and dehydration:
- Residents should stay out of the heat.
- Use your fans and air conditioners to cool the rooms you are using and drink plenty of fluids.
Infants, toddlers and the elderly are especially susceptible to heat injury. Monitor your children and check on your elderly neighbors to make sure they are all right.
If you need water or a cool location, come to the cooling center at the on North Oceanside Road.
If you need emergency assistance, call the Rockville Centre Police Department using 911.
To avoid the possibility of a power outage, we ask that you:
- Turn off all unnecessary lighting, appliances and electronic equipment and avoid unnecessary use of water and air conditioning until after 10 p.m. through July 2.
