Week In Review

A condensed version of this week's local news.

As the new week approaches, let's look back on some of last week's stories that were featured on Rockville Centre Patch. The Waldbaum's on Sunrise Highway was robbed at gunpoint on the night of Aug. 21. NBA trainer to the stars, Ganon Baker, ran a grueling, two-day basketball clinic at St. Agnes. Melissa O' Connor offered some good tips on how to decorate your home in her newest, Do It Yourself column.

A fire on Tuesday at the Long Island Railroad Jamaica train station's switching board wreaked havoc on morning and afternoon commutes. National Grid's replacement of a gas main on North Village Avenue finished up, and a local resident is bicycling from Boston to Manhattan to fundraise for AIDS research. Former police commissioner Jack McKeon was honored at a PBA golf outing, and South Side Middle School is piloting an Earth Science E-Portal system, making it the first district on Long Island to do so.

Certified holistic health coach, Judy Griffin, joined Patch this week with her first column, Eating Healthy in RVC, while we profiled the village's newest Asian Fusion restaurant, Wild Ginger.
