SSMS to Perform Sondheim's 'Into the Woods'

Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway masterpiece “Into the Woods” is coming to the stage of the South Side Middle School for two performances on May 3 at 4:30 p.m. and May 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The acclaimed Broadway musical is a magical weaving of beloved folk and fairy tales with a decidedly new twist. Set in a mystical woods and taking classic characters from the best loved childhood stories and introducing a new story of a childless Baker and his Wife, “Into the Woods” is a delightful song-filled feast for the eyes and ears.

South Side’s dazzling cast is lead by Rita Gentile as The Witch, Tess Siegel as The Baker’s Wife, Connor Coniglio as The Baker, Anna Rose Rodriguez as Cinderella, Meghan Cappitelli as Little Red Riding Hood, Anthony Arias as The Wolf, Brandon Astor and Allison Mullooly as The Princes, Julia DeLuca as Jack, Julia Baxley as Jack’s Mother, Kendall Kutner, Leah Martino and Emma Waite as Cinderella’s Stepmother and Stepsisters, Ailish Egan as Rapunzel, Isebal Logios as Granny, Amexa Helbringer as The Steward, Kate Carrigan as The Mysterious Old Man and Jackie Ray controlling the entire cast of characters as The Narrator.

An ensemble of singing and dancing “Woodland Sprites” (Kirstin Goodlad, Ciara McDonald Ally Hochhauser, Stephanie Rhodes, Avery Trump) and “FairyTale Characters” (Ciara Rodriguez, Annie Bella, Cassidy McCabe, Caroline Wagner, Hannah O’Connor, Amanda Ventura, Zoe Medaglia, Caroline Cosgrove, Julia Hospodka, Grace Schene, Grace Woythaler, Julia Pandolfo) complete the talented cast.

Providing essential production assistance is the South Side Middle School Technical Crew (Michael Afanador, Kevin Chen, Michelle Cosares, Talia Cutrone, Alhaji Jalloh, Scorr Richman, Emily Sobel).

And joining the professional production staff is South Side Middle School Alumni, Sophia Ray who has worked tirelessly as the assistant to the director.
