Music Man Pranks Waiting Room in Online Video

Rockville Centre resident makes waiting for the doctor more fun.

Who said waiting rooms can’t be fun?

Frank Scafuri grew bored during a recent visit to a doctor, so the 63-year-old Rockville Centre resident decided to play a little trick on an unexpecting audience during his next doctor visit.

“I thought it would be pretty funny if I would stand up, sing this big Broadway song and just leave the room once the receptionist said, ‘Mr. Scafuri, the doctor will see you now.’” he said.

The stunt was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube, where the Juilliard School alumni has attracted nearly 10,000 views.

Two doctors allowed Scafuri to use their office for the prank, shot by three phony patients with iPhones.

Scafuri plans to produce seven more videos over the course of the year “to put smiles on ‘waiting patients,’” said the Rockville Centre resident of 38 years, who welcomes any doctor in private practice to allow their offices to be used. “The staff loves it as well as the patients.”

The song and dance man said he sent out a message to his fellow Juilliard alums that read, "It doesn't matter how old you are. You are never too old to dream. Find your joy and live it!"
