Leggz Dance Studio Opens New Home

After 19 years, dance company moves to new 5,000 square-foot studio.

After 19 years at its location at 222 Sunrise Highway, Leggz Dance Studio has a new home.

Its new 5,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art studio at 486 Sunrise Highway — an upgrade from the 4,000 square-feet they had at the original location — boasts several large changing rooms and three dance studios.

Artistic Director Joan MacNaughton invited local officials like Mayor Mary Bossart, Deputy Mayor Chuck Joyce and Trustee David Krasula to the grand opening on Aug. 30, and the dance studio will begin hosting its regular classes starting on Sept. 11.

"I simply love it," MacNaughton said of the new studio. "It has all news spanish tile floors, viewing windows into each of the studios, and it's all on one floor, which makes everything easier."

She noted that it took one-month to renovate the vacant building space, and each of the three dance studios are named after awards: Oscars, Tonys, and Emmys.

Her daughter, Sam, who helps runs the studio, added that when she initially walked into the new location, she was speechless. "I really didn't it expect it to look this way," she said.

Leggz dancer Charlene Brew couldn't contain her excitement for the new studio. "It's so beautiful," Brew said. " And to have viewing windows into each of the studios really helps."
