Virginia Quake Felt in RVC

RVC residents react to feeling tremors from natural disaster.

Several residents of RVC and the surrounding area reported feeling the tremors from the earthquake in Virginia Tuesday afternoon.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was 3.7 miles deep and occurred near Mineral, Va., about 100 miles south of Washington, D.C.

The Long Island Rail Road said train service was unaffected by the shaking felt here. Control towers at JFK and Newark Liberty airports were evacuated.

RVC Patch asked residents on our Facebook Page where they were when they felt the quake. Linda Miller said, "I was lying on the bed - at first I thought it was the cat scratching, but he was sleeping, then I thought I was having heart palpatations so bad the bed was shaking!"

Maureen McCarthy Gidicsin said her desk was shaking in Garden City, while Randy Cramer quipped, "The sex was so good, it made the earth quake!"
