The Monsignor Kelly Parish Center at St. Agnes Cathedral will be hosting a concert fundraiser on Nov. 23 to help establish a college and high school scholarship fund in honor of Katie McBride.
McBride, a former New Hyde Park resident, died at the age of 11 after a long, tough battle with cancer.
According to the story on her foundation's website:
On her 11th birthday, she was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. By the time it was found the cancer had already spread throughout her body.
McBride received a number of treatments, but relapsed multiple times, eventually passing away on March 1, 2008.
