South Nassau Honors Weisenberg

Annual golf tournament raises $277k for hospital.

New York State Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg was the honoree at South Nassau Communities Hospital's 26th annual golf tournament held recently at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor and Middle Bay Country Club in Oceanside. The annual tournament raised more than $277,000 for the hospital's Center for Advanced Orthopedics and the Long Island Joint Replacement Institute. South Nassau Communities Hospital is located on the border of Rockville Centre and Oceanside.

"Assemblyman Weisenberg has been a loyal and steadfast advocate of South Nassau Communities Hospital and the communities and residents of the South Shore of Nassau County," said the hospital's president and CEO, Joseph A. Quagliata.  "On behalf of our board of directors, employees, physicians and the patients we serve and their families and neighbors, I thank him for his ardent efforts in support of the mission of South Nassau to provide standard-setting healthcare services."

The annual tournament's 240 golfers competed for low gross score, closest to the pin, longest drive, most accurate drive and hole-in-one prizes. The afternoon of golf was followed by an evening of fine dining, including a buffet and live auction, as well as raffle prizes ranging from tickets to sporting events to golf foursomes at the area's most prestigious courses.

"I offer a special thanks to our hole-in-one and top sponsors," said Elizabeth Nardone, vice president of development, "as well as all the tournament's generous sponsors, participants and volunteers who continue to support South Nassau year after year."

Weisenberg helped secure funding for the hospital's patient education programs, as well as for major capital improvements, including the expansion of the hospital's Emergency Department, and most recently, the creation of the hospital's Center for Cardiovascular Health.
