Sandy Fundraiser Set for Saturday at Kasey's

RVC Foundation has raised nearly $40,000 thus far for local hurricane victims.

The RVC Foundation, incorporated in the wake of Hurricane Sandy to assist storm victims in the Rockville Centre area, will hold a fundraiser on Feb. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kasey's Kitchen.

The new foundation was formed by village residents, many of whom are connected to the Rockville Centre Community Fund, whose charter limits its assistance to those who live or work in Rockville Centre.

"This is a way for us to help local families rebuild and refurnish their homes," said Mayor Fran Murray, who helped create the foundation.

All proceeds from the Feb. 2 fundraiser will go directly to families in need, he said.

According to Murray, to date, the foundation has raised nearly $40,000, which has gone to help 12 local families.

Admission to the event, which will feature an auction, raffle prizes and a Super Bowl pool, is $20.

Donations to the foundation may also be made by sending checks made payable to the RVC Foundation to P.O. Box 1044, Rockville Centre, NY  11571.

For information, contact the Foundation by emailing RVCFoundation@rvcny.us.

So Sad. Everyone is doing their best to help their fellow neighbor recover but New York State government does nothing but up taxes. Shame on you Gov Bozo. Instead of stepping on "the crown jewels" with 6 inch stillettos, how about ending the TAX INEQUITY between Upstate and Downstate? We need to keep every dollar we make to recover from Sandy. Let us keep the billions you throw away at the Upstaters. Stop being such a jerk.
