RVC Youths Get Their Five Pennies Worth

Youth Council hosts ice cream social at Five Pennies Creamery last Friday.

Nearly 100 of the village's youth gathered on Park Avenue last Friday night, but they weren't there to cause trouble or problems. Teens flooded the commercial strip to get a couple scoopfuls of delicious homemade ice cream at Five Pennies Creamery as part of the Rockville Centre Youth Council's initiative to give young adults a viable alternative to drinking and abusing illegal substances on the weekends.

The Rockville Centre Youth Council, in conjunction with on Park Avenue, hosted the ice cream night on April 1. The event was under written by the RVC Youth Council and Dan Levine of Five Pennies Creamery. Levine also played classic rock and Motown to set the mood.

The Youth Council is currently searching for other village businesses to partner with that could donate their space or underwrite an event.
