PREVIEW: RVC Guild Presents 'Little Women'

Theatrical group to perform at SSMS from Oct. 21-23.

The Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts will be performing "Little Women" at South Side Middle School from Oct. 21-23, and RVC Patch got a sneak peek of the guild's dress rehearsal for the musical on Tuesday night.

The 32-member local cast ranges in age from 6 to mid 50s, and for a fee, theater-goers can sit down for a 1.5 hour, meet-the-cast tea party before the Sunday afternoon performance.

"It's important people come down and support the guild," said Gina Baez, who plays Joe March in the musical. "The arts are alive and thriving, and I believe they're vital to this community."

Tickets range from $15-22, and the Guild offers a VIP package that includes show admission and entrance to the cast tea party.

Former village trustee Jeanne Mulry will also act in the musical, making this her inaugural theatrical performance with the Guild. Mulry, who plays Mrs. Kirk — a kind, middle-aged Irish land lord — said the production showcases some great local talent and voices.

"It's a little bit of Broadway in Rockville Centre," she said. "The voices are beautiful. I could listen to them all day."

Jen Monsour, a South Side High School English teacher who plays Marmee in the musical, said the production is for all ages because it underscores great family values and morals. "This show has a beautiful spirit," she said. "It has values that connects us all."
