Mercy Offering 'Secrets of the Slim' Diabetes Workshops

Program to provide diabetics with skills required for day-to-day management of condition.

To assist diabetics in addressing one of the most important aspects of controlling their condition, the Diabetes Education Center at Mercy Medical Center is offering two sessions of its “Secrets of the Slim” workshop on losing weight and keeping it off.

Presented on Jan. 10 at 6:15 p.m. and Jan. 24 at 11 a.m., the two-hour presentations will discuss simple measures that diabetics can easily incorporate into their daily routines to lose weight and not regain it.

The workshops will be conducted by Marie Fasano Ruggles, a Mercy nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator. They are part of Mercy’s program to provide diabetics with the skills required for day-to-day management of their condition and strategies for people living with diabetes to maintain and maximize life activities.
