Mercy Medical Center and the Rockville Centre Lions Club will be hosting a free lecture at the hospital on Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. explaining the interaction of depression and diabetes.
Coping with the emotional aspects of diabetes is an important part of dealing with the condition, according to David Flomenhaft, PhD, Mercy’s Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.
The hour-long presentation by Flomenhaft will address the emotional struggles that can make it difficult for diabetics to do what’s necessary to be healthy and feel better.
Flomenhaft is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a doctoral degree from New York University and nearly three decades of professional experience.
The Rockville Centre Lions Club has a strong commitment to fight diabetes and diabetic eye disease. As part of their mission, they support local and large-scale efforts leading to the control and treatment of diabetes and its complications through education, prevention and research.
Advance registration for the presentation is not required. It will be conducted in the Organizational Development Training Room in the hospital’s St. Anne’s Center.
Ample convenient free parking will be available.
