Mercy Holding Free Post-Disaster Emotional Stress Lecture

Lecture to be held at Freeport Memorial Library in wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Mercy Medical Center is holding a free lecture on “Emotional First Aid After Disaster Strikes” at the Freeport Memorial Library on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The hour-long presentation will be given by Dr. David Flomenhaft, Director of Mercy’s Outpatient Behavioral Healthcare Services. Flomenhaft is a licensed clinical social worker with a doctoral degree in clinical social work from New York University and nearly three decades of professional experience.

The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the nor’easter that followed included as much emotional as physical damage. This presentation will discuss how to cope with the wide range of intense, confusing, and sometimes frightening feelings that result from natural disasters.

There is no charge for attending the presentation. Advance registration is recommended but is not required to attend.

The Freeport Memorial Library is located at 144 Merrick Road. For registration, travel directions and information, call the Library Reference Desk at 516-379-3274 ext. 505 or by e-mail at: frreference@freeportlibrary.info

I have tried numerous times to post this as a comment to a Hurricane Sandy blog post I wrote. It is a resource to those who need help and for those who can give help. I continue to get 'invalid security code' when I attempt to comment. Here is the link to the blog post. Perhaps someone else can have success in posting this important info onto the comment area of: http://digitalethos.org/social-media-and-hurricane-sandy Thank you. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to post other activities that are resources for Hurricane Sandy as blog post comments as well.
