Mercy Holding Fall Prevention Lecture

Mercy Medical Center invites the community to a free lecture about preventing falls on April 22 at 1 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation Center.

The hour-long presentation, sponsored by the Floral Park Mercy League, will be made by Kerry Brown, director of therapeutic services at Mercy’s department of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

The New York State Department of Health notes that falls are the leading cause of injury deaths, hospitalizations and emergency department visits among adults 65 and older, and they can result in lasting, serious consequences, affecting mobility, independence and mental health.

Brown, a licensed physical therapist with nearly two decades of clinical experience, will explain the predictable patterns of falls, their risk factors and how they can be prevented.Advance registration to attend the presentation is not required. The Floral Park Recreation Center is located at 124 Stewart St.
