Strong-Healthy-Woman Boot Camp will be running a fitness fundraiser Saturday in Oceanside to help raise money for local hurricane relief on Long Island, namely for communities surrounding Rockville Centre.

The NYC-based fitness program has a weekly boot camp in Oceanside, with money from this Saturday's class going to hurricane victims.

"We have a few boot campers who have been devastated by this storm, so I'm super motivated to help out as much as possible," owner Laura Miranda said.

Miranda said that last weekend's fundraiser at the program's other location in Battery Park raised more than $800 with approximately 30 participants.

According to Miranda, one of the her campers, an Oceanside resident, had no power or hot water and even lost her car during the storm, but still managed to come to boot camp every morning because it was her "only escape from this bad dream that I can't wake up from."

"I'm trying to do everything in my power to raise as much money as we can," Miranda said.

Saturday's fundraiser will take place on the basketball courts behind the Merle Avenue School in Oceanside at 8 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
