Rockville Centre is commemorating Older Americans Month with a variety of programs and services geared toward the elderly.
“While the Village of Rockville Centre provides services, support, and resources to older adults year-round, Older Americans Month is a great opportunity to show special appreciation,” said Mayor Francis X. Murray. “We will continue to provide opportunities for elders to come together and share their experiences with one another, as well as with individuals of other generations.”
This May's theme is "Safe Today. Health Tomorrow." and focuses on injury prevention and safety for older adults.
Nationally accredited Sandel Senior Center in Rockville Centre will partner with the village in promoting senior care.
Sandel is hosting an open house through Friday. Residents interested in participating in activities at the Sandel Senior Center are encouraged to call (516) 678-9350.
“Older Americans Month celebrations acknowledge the value that older adults continue to bring to our communities by making an effort to applaud recent achievements of local elders and inviting them to share the activities they do to unleash the power of age,” said Chris O’Leary, Director of Senior Services.
