TUNE IN TONIGHT - WLIW21's weekly series "Long Island Business Report" Turns Its Attention to the Pension Debate

Tonight at 7 p.m. on WLIW21 Long Island Business Report, the weekly half-hour program hosted by Emmy-awarding winning journalist (and longtime Rockville Centre resident) Jim Paymar, turns its attention to the economic crisis confronting Long Island in the face of exploding pension obligations in Nassau and Suffolk counties as well as the towns, cities and villages. 

Taped at the Madison Theater at Molloy College, Long Island Business Report provides an in-depth look at how business, government and academia working together can make Long Island a more dynamic place to live and work.

Tonight’s episode The Pension Debate: An Overview for Long Island marks the first in a series of three reports that will be featured on Long Island Business Report on the subject.  The three reports will air for 3 consecutive weeks through Wednesday, November 6.

In tonight’s episode, Richard Ravitch, former lieutenant governor of New York and co-chair of the State Budget Crisis Tax Force and Lawrence Levy, executive dean of the National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University explore the economic and political factors that have endangered New York’s public pension system, one of the largest in the country. Long Island Business Report airs weekly on WEDNESDAYS at 7 p.m.; THURSDAYS, at 11:30 a.m.; and SUNDAYS, at 9:30 a.m. on WLIW21.  The episodes are also available to viewers online at www.wliw.org/libr following the broadcast.
