RVC Spartan's First ever Playoff Game
The RVC Spartan's finished 4 th overall in the "A" Division, with that being said they played the Wantagh/Seaford team Monday night at the Long Beach Arena for their first playoff game ever. Things went well for the Spartan's as they crushed Wantagh/Seaford 9-5. They have beaten Wantagh/Seaford 3 times and tied them once on opening day.The Spartan's team had a strong defensive game through the first 2 periods. Goaltender Brian Albertsen was spectacular as usual especially when he stopped a break away early in the game. I believe that could have been the turning point right there.Pat Kavanagh was all over the ice scoring 4 goals and 1 assist,Andrew Cardi was his usual self scoring 2 goals and 1 assist,Shane Douglas with 1 goal and 1 assist,Cameron Dunn with 1 goal, and Peter Piekarski with a short handed break away goal.Assists by Tony Marco and Dylan Rutherig.
The Spartan's victory has earned them a playoff game vs first place Long Beach this Saturday starting at 11:00 am. They will have to put a very big effort out there on the ice against this team.Wining their first meeting together by an 8-6 score then losing their second meeting 11-4. Let's go Spartan's !
