A Disappointing Loss,But Not a Disappointing Season

First year team the RVC Spartan's officially ended their season with a 9-2 loss to the Long Beach team in the semi-final playoff game.Although the loss was a disappointment to the Spartan's team ,overall they felt for a first year team a lot was accomplished.Playing Long Beach was no easy task,a team with a total of 20 players on their bench and the the RVC Spartan's with 14 of their own players. The Spartan's hung tough through 2 periods trailing 3-0 but could not break through with a goal until the third period.Long Beach had 34 shots on goal and the Spartan's had 29.
The Spartan's finished the season with a 13-5-2 record 4th overall playing in the "A" Division not bad for a first year team. Next season we will continue with our program ,moving forward we will try to form a JV Team while still keeping a Middle School team.We will also ask for league approval for bringing the Malverne School District into our organization so we may widen the scope of players for next season. We would also like to thank Olaf and Magna Straube for their great job taking photo's of our players on and off the ice.Having photo's makes using media venue's like Facebook,The RVC Patch, and the Spartan's website more effective.
We also plan to do our own hockey clinics coming in late May or June and also in August. They will be focusing on all phases of ice hockey development, ages will range from 5th grade up to 10th.Keep an eye out for email's in reference to that.
We would like to thank all the player's and their parents for participating and supporting their school ice hockey team this season. Have a great Spring and Summer!
