lets make this abandoned movie theater into an adult imax theater with a bar and other amenities.. generate plenty of revenue with all the eye popping imax movies being produced. It could also bring in revenue by showing old movies in imax when there aren't new features to be shown: Mission Impossible 4, The Dark Knight, Transformers 3, etc

B&N- they're going bankrupt, so if they opened up a store in that spot it would just be vacant again in a year or two
old navy/gap- theres an old navy in hempstead, and a gap in oceanside. corporate wouldn't want to open a store in rvc because it would be less business for the other stores and they would lose money in the end.
restaurant/bar- we've already got plenty of them
apple store- theres already 3 on long island, and rvc doesn't have enough parking to handle the amount of traffic an apple store would bring.

If you're concerned about parking for the apple store, imagine an all-night music venue the size of the abandoned movie theater. The town can barely handle the visitors it has now, figure that out before you open a major corporate store.

It should be turned into a gym, with a nail salon and bar inside. Because that's what we need. Oh maybe also a small Church that also sells pizza??!

I like Express. I really like the 1MX shirts with the narrow silk ties. Also I prefer the producer suit jackets to the photographer suit jackets because of the 2 1/4" lapel and the modern fit through the chest.

In lamens terms, YES to Express!

@ MB.

I was hoping Whole Foods would get a hold of the Waldbaum's site. Meets all their criteria, but Mayor Murray said Keyfood is going in.

How about an indoor farmer's market like those in NYC http://www.grownyc.org/wholesale ?

It would be nice to have a venue that supports local businesses all year round and free from the whims of Mother Nature.

Aside, IMO Nassau County should have a Food Terminal similar to Hunt's Point. Provides hundreds of jobs and reduces vehicle emissions.

So retarded that the food on our shelves, that are long island produced, must first travel to the Bronx and then shipped back to us.

Even crazier, we got miles and miles of coastline but no docks to receive perishable and durable goods. Another venue that could bring hundreds of jobs to Nassau County.

Even more nuttier. We don't have a foreign trade zone for commerce being literally minutes to JFK. another venue that can bring jobs to the Town of hempstead/Nassau.

Who runs this patch of dirt anyway?

No positive foresight or economic direction. just the lame status quo and ever increasing tax levies.

DUMB,DUMB, DUMB.

I wish LI's best indie bookstore, Book Revue, in Huntington would open a branch in that space. That would be awesome; with that lousy Chapter One bookshop in Oceanside now kaput, there's no bookstores for miles. The area is really under-served in that respect; RVC would make a great central location for a destination shop/cafe like that, sitting as it does between so many towns that lack anything more intellectually stimulating that, um, Cabo.

Suffice to say I would like to run for an advocacy group for the benefit of my friends and family in RVC and Nassau County.

For sc - actually wild by nature does NOT sell organic beef. They do sell organic chicken and turkey and pork but not beef. Their beef is "all natural" which is corn fed and most likely with GMO corn and who knows what else. All natural is a far cry from organic. It is funny because they have signs in the store that says all their beef comes from the US...which does nothing to make me feel confident about buying it. US beef is banned by the EU which should tell you something.

Obviously the ballpark idea is the forerunner. It just makes the most SENSE in that location. Other good ideas include an organ store as Frank suggested, another Parrots of the World, a arcade, and roller skating rink. DUH.

Hell, turn the whole town section 8 and let the money come from somewhere else.

Horatio. I'm a business owner in Rockville centre and I have connections with all restaurants and bars in this town. I also help organize the at Patricks day parade. You the one that wants a pottery studio. I'm the one who knows what our amazing town doesn't have. I know what would generate the most revenue you for the town and for those two buildings. I'm speaking for my employees and my friends at other establishments around town when I say we don't want guides coming in. They cause problems and usually end up arrested when the start fight at mcfaddens. What will generate revenue in both locations isn't a stupid pottery studio. An adult themed location such as a bar/theatre or a bar/club would generate the most cash flow for these locations. Since rvc has a ton of children, one of these building could be geared toward the youth... such as a paintball facility, or a fun zone esq arcade. I'm not saying my suggestions will ever happen. I'm just guarenteeing they could be huge cash cows in our town

RVC is a family oriented community and most families have more than 1 child. Other than the rec center, there is not much to offer on the south shore for indoor play. I suggest a venue similar to Once Upon a tree top in Plainview. Its a place for kids to play indoors, classes, birthday party destination, babysitting (for parents to go have dinner and a movie), even add in something for the older kids like lazer tag. The closest place is LePLay Cafe in Bellmore and even that is limited.

I would be happy to open a destination like this in one of the vacant locations but mayor would have to help me with financing :)
