Crime Watch: $30K in Eyewear Stolen From Parked Car

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

 

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Burglary:

On Jan. 18 at 10:30 p.m., complainant manager from Beach House Bar, located at 21 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported that a known male entered the basement of the business at approximately 9:23 p.m. and attempted to remove three cases of empty beer bottles without authorization.

On Jan. 17 at 12:08 p.m., a complainant from Allen Road in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 9:05 a.m.and 11:55 a.m., unknown person(s) damaged a living room window, entered the house without authorization and stole property that included an Apple iMac computer valued at $1,000 and a Nintendo game console valued at $300.

Larceny:

On Jan. 25, a complainant from Lincoln Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime on Jan. 24 between 12:15 p.m. and 9 p.m., unknown person(s) stole the delivery of an iPad headset valued at $29.15 that had been left outside her apartment door by a neighbor.

On Jan. 16 at 11:35 p.m., a complainant from 146 Road in Springfield Gardens reported that sometime between 9 p.m. and 11:10 p.m., unknown person(s) stole his property that was stored in a locker at Bally’s Fitness, located at 60 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 18 at 10 p.m., a complainant from Windemere Drive in Shirley reported that sometime between 6 p.m. and 9:12 p.m., unknown person(s) damaged the rear passenger window of his 2006 VW motor vehicle while it was parked in front of 222 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre and stole approximately 300 pieces of eyewear valued at approximately $30,000.

On Jan. 22 at 2:55 p.m., a complainant from Cedar Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a GPS valued at $238.94 from his 2011 Nissan motor vehicle parked in the driveway between 1-9 a.m.

On Jan. 19 at 5:55 p.m., a complainant from S. Kensington Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that two unknown males called her home claiming that the victim had won a cash prize requiring a tax payment; the complainant cashed two checks totaling $2,470 from Bank of America, located at 152 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre and gave it to the male subjects who fled in a brown motor vehicle.

Who keeps 30k of inventory in a car/van? Sounds fishy to begin with.
